sat
milner res: 6:30am - off the shore west of the boat launch. a few smb, but nothing over 6 inches! only tried it for 2 hours. used a rapala f5, dark sides and light bottom.

oster lake: 10am - don't know if the oster lakes are 'named' or numbered. went to the one you have to hike through the trees and field to get to. caught lots of blue gill, on the smaller side. they love worms and corn.

milner res: 10:30pm - went back to try some late night fishing.... nothing!! again, used a rapala.

sun
sublett res: 9am - what a nice little body of water! the level was very low, but the rainbows were biting vigorously on worm and small white marshmallows. fished down the bank on the side with the restroom.

milner res: 6pm - yup, back at milner! can you tell i really really want to learn how to catch bass? this time i fished near the main boat dock. caught more tiny smb, largest was around 10". left after less than 2 hours. same rapala. i really want to learn how to fish this place as it is only 30 mins away from me.

in a couple weeks i'll be off to salmon falls, cj and maybe wilson lake.

I have not fished Milner, but I have fished lots of other Snake res's as well as the Snake River itself. Your Rapala might be too high in the water column to catch the keepers. I have always been succesful with soft plastics like grubs and creature baits. Try rigging a 3" (or so) grub on a jig head (with hook exposed) and reel in kinda slow so your bait stays low to the bottom.

Also if you know how to rig a "drop shot", that can be good for smallies to, just make sure to set the hook as soon as you feel the slightest tug.

Hope this helps, let me know,
Rob

hi michael. i don't really have a favorite. i'll fish for anything that's biting! i really want to get into bass. blue gill, perch and crappie are always fun for me when i catch them in masses. cleaning them, on the other hand..... don't know if i'll have time to go fishing this weekend. have a concert to photograph friday night and i'm off to lava hot springs on sat. i might have to make some time on sunday!
