Went out Saturday with the club out of Temple Bar. Between Haystacks and Jawbone got into a boil of Stripers 3 footbal fields long. Ended the day with 5 bass @7.29lbs. Some of you guy's walking the shore if want to come out we are always looking for new members especially non-boaters.

Tim,
I did OK for bass out in that area (Jawbone) with 2 at about 3 lbs. and some smaller ones on July 4. Dropshotting and power rigged whacky senkos....Generally the bass were neutral that day. Saw only one other fisherman.
Really hot however. All the stripers I noted were small at 6 to 8 inches.

WOW! Three football fields long! Have'nt seen anything like that in the lower basin in a long, long time. What time of day? How long did it last? What are you tossing? Time for me to get the map out and find this place. Keep the reports coming!

UNBELIEVABLE!!!!!
That is every striped bass fishermens Dream. Like BaySport we would like more reports. So far this year I have only heard of these Boils. Read about them in the paper. But when I go out the wind is my worst enemy. I have only seen one boil about 10 to 15 feet wide and the fish were only up for 15 minutes. Thanks for the info will have to try up there sometime.

300 yards is not that big on Mead. We pulled up on a point and there were constant little boils all the way towards the back of the cove. We were not fishing them but pulled in a few for fun on a fluke and 1 on a spook all 1 to 2lb range. tried to fish under them and even caught one on a brushhog on the retrieve.

Unbelieveable...I've been fishing the Temple Basin religiously for years, and I don't think I have ever seen a boil. I've seen a few in the Boulder Basin but not in the Temple Basin. That's simply amazing to me. Glad you got to experience that. I have to admit that I don't typically go that far from Temple Bar because I'm usually in a houseboat. I typically anchor at Delmar Butte, the Teal Coves, (behind the) Temple, Gateway Cove, and Channel Island. Perhaps, I'll have to venture out to Jawbone next time. I was looking at the satellite images of the Jawbone shoreline, and it looks fairly shallow in a lot of areas. Are there any large coves in the area which you would recommend? I'm in a 50' houseboat so I have to make sure I'm in a nice, protected cove with plenty of room to anchor the stakes. Any advice on good fishing/anchoring spots near Jawbone would be greatly appreciated. My main game fish is stripers although I have caught other species as well.
Best regards,
Paul

Paul,
I can't think of any place at the Jawbone you could anchor a houseboat safely. With the falling water many humps are exposed at the cove entrances and the cove backs are exposed to wind from the NW.

Thanks for the heads up. Are you back in N.V. now? Didn't you have some work out here in Orange County early this year?
I'll have to pass on Jawbone then. I'm actually going to the Boulder Basin in a month for a bachelor party. We're taking a 59 footer out of Callville Bay. Do you have any advice in response to my previous post about that particular area? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Best regards,
Paul

Paul,
Working in Las Vegas, for about a month now, on the new Trump Tower installing Walnut paneling.
No good ideas for houseboat location other than what I posted. If we go out this weekend I'll keep an eye out for possible locations.
