Thanks to the guys who hosted the derby yesterday, Connor and I had a blast...lets quick summery,,,Picked Conner up at 135am drove to Safeway grabbed 4 banananut muffins hit the road to Redondo ramp...116 miles lator got to the ramp and threw the boat in the water about 430, drove in the dark to my favorite (my only spot in the south sound) hit a 5 to 6 pound fish first pass (released it.. big mistake) 2nd pass caught a small fish turned around and on the up current pass my rod released and started pulling drag....fish comes to the top and jumps wow its a pig,,,after about 4 min (I still have line on the reel) I say to conner put the motor in gear and lets get closer....big mistake...I loose the fish...regroup...conner catches a 14 pound fish....then some more shakers,,,then we weighed in conner won 5 (25 packs) of gammys hooks and some line....end of the day we caught 7 Kings,1 humpy,1 silver, 1 dogfish, 3 flounder, 1 double ugly (bullhead), 3 rock fish, 1 black bass,,,,thats not counting the 3 to 5 smolt salmon we released...it was a great day of catching fish...not any thing of any size which is a bummer during a derby...but at least conner won something in his first derby....that first fish that I released...the secret weight fish for a trip with guide phil stevens was 5.5 pounds, now I didnt weigh the fish but it was close to that..... drove home by 630pm....DJ

Sounds like a long day, but productive. If you're catching, the hours go fast though.
