Decided to take the maiden voyage of my new vessel on strawberry. Didn't start out so well, I had a little trouble getting the engine started on the ramp, so I went ahead and clogged up my lane for a few minutes, finally I fired up the kicker and moved over to the courtesy dock. I fiddled with the big motor for a few minutes thinking I had flooded it, when in fact I think my problem was I didn't prime it enough, either way it finally fired and purred like a kitten all day.
I took my father in law and brother in law (power baiters) with me, we missed the prime fishing in the morning so we ran out on a point in Renegade and I immediately picked up a fish or two. We spent a bunch of time playing with the different gadgets trying to get a feel for them. Ran the bow mount for a while, trolled for a while, spent a bunch of time plotting trails and making and erasing waypoints with the GPS unit.
I've always been confined to whatever bay I launched in with my toon, so we spent some time running here and there, fished a little in the ladder, narrows, chicken creek, and mud creek. We ended up spending more time playing around with gadgets and getting familiar with the boat, so we only ended up boating a handful of fish, all slot cuts. The algae has really bloomed and clarity is pretty poor.

Count your blessings Phill. I have owned three boats and I had opportunities on all three of them on their maiden voyages.
