Cats of all flavors-blues,whites,channels,bullheads,appaloosas,& more.

Bass-smallmouth,largemouth,whitebass, & my favorite, stripers.

I can't forget the best tasting, hmmm toss up between crappie or jack salmon.

I was born and raised in Pennsylvania so some of this Bama fishing took me by surprise. Back in the 70's I used to snag a lot of shovelbills at Guntersville Dam. There is nothing more exciting than 40 lb of shovelbill in super swift current of the turbines. I sure miss those days.

Then there's the little guys. Tough to figure out at first. What did you call that sunfish? a brim? Ohh bream. OK. Hey how come you called that bream a shellcracker? My father in law was quite a mentor, kinda brought me up to parr.

Of course I can't leave out the 5' alligator gar that nearly got a hold of my leg after I landed him. Or all the carp and buffalo, and drums. Or the shad and skip jacks.

I must say I've been blessed with some mighty fine fishing in Alabama and I just hope my kids get to enjoy as much as I have. They've gotten off to a good start. I hope you have as many tales to tell as I do.
