Hey everyone,
Just thought it'd be fun to get a running account of everyone's favorite freshwater fish. Whatever the reason, be it eats, recreation, looks, or anything else just let us know.
Getting the ball rolling...my favorite freshwater game fish is the Smallmouth Bass. Aside from its interesting eyes, lateral markings, and varying shades of green I like catching smallies because they put up such a fight! Catch one of these muscular little guys in 10-15ft of water and you're in for an awesome experience (especially if you fish barbless like I do). Pound for pound, inch for inch, I believe that the smallmouth is the premier recreational catch.[cool]

Couldn't agree with you more.Smallies always give a great fight and top water show.My faverite as well.

I love the smallies too. I used to fish for them a lot in Maryland, but they're not to be found here in Central Georgia.
Here, I fish mostly for largemouths and catfish, though I'm looking forward to doing some striper fishing. They grow them big down here, I'd like to find a place where I have a chance of hooking a large flathead. At least there's quite a variety of species here to fish for!

I like LMB in the Freshwater.
And some of the other guys in the Salt.

Number one for me is the Walleye. Good eats and fun to catch.
Pike come in a close second. Still good eating, and its just fun to pull these giant toothed beasts out of the weeds.
Channel Cats are definatly on my list. Sometimes a little tap on your line brings you a drag burning fight. I've had these things pull my little boat around the back waters in the swamp.
Carp are another one I enjoy. Snag one of these on light tackle, and its a toss-up weather you'll run out of line or land the beast.

My favorite is kokanee salmon. They fight hard, hit agressively, and taste great. To me there is nothing that is more fun than a day of trolling for kokanee!

I agree, Walleye (though I've only tried it once) is a great eating fish; I always catch and release but decided I'd try some at a restaurant in Minnesota.
I've never heard of Kokanee Salmon before. They sound interesting enough though.[cool]
BTW, nice fish TubeN2!

Gotta say my fav is walleye too, thats about all I fish for in the summer. GREAT eating fish. I also like fishing for perch, whether its bobber fishing in the summer or takin 'em through the ice. We have a few lakes around my region that have smallies and a few large mouth so I get lucky and get into them once in a while.

Yeah, kokanee are a great little salmon. They are in the sockeye family and are a freshwater salmon. Check out my reports on the trout/salmon board to see some pics of them. Great to eat, and great fighters!

Yeah, they are a nice, solid looking fish.

i like to try to catch cats. i like tube's little signature, though i may cross the line between fishing and standing on the shore looking like an idiot, mainly because i never catch anything...but my time is coming. i just have to deal until then.
