Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection Makes New Boat Launch Search Available to Public Online
The Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) today announced a new feature is now available on the DEP website that allows visitors to locate boat launches statewide.
Those interested can now easily search for a State boat launch directly on the DEP website by location (by choosing a county on a map of Connecticut) or by type (by selecting either coastal launches, inland launches, or car top/carry-in launches). The new feature also includes separate web pages for each State boat launch, which provide photographs of the boat launch and surrounding area as well as a listing of important information about the facility. From these individual pages, interested boaters can learn a particular boat launch’s type, its regulations, and find directions and parking.
"Boat launches in the state are used extensively by the boating community and the DEP continues to look at ways to[#0000ff] [/#0000ff]better facilitate the boating experience for both state residents and tourists," said Tom Morrissey, Chief of the DEP’s Bureau of Outdoor Recreation.
To access the new webpage, visit the main boating page at [#800080]www.ct.gov/dep/boating[/#800080], select the "Where to Go Boating" link on the left-side navigation, and then select "Locate a Boat Launch."
The DEP owns and/or operates over 110 boat launches statewide on ponds, lakes, rivers and Long Island Sound. Unless noted otherwise in the Connecticut Boater's Guide or on the DEP website, all launches are open to the general public 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. For more information on boating in Connecticut, please contact the DEP Boating Division at (860) 434-8638 or [#0000ff]dep.boating.division@po.state.ct.us[/#0000ff].
