[cool] I was invited,(last weekend) by my son-in-law, to visit an old Texas lake that has been in their family since the 1880's. There Great Great Grandfather settled the place after the civil war and Dammed up some springs and formed a 70ar lake. At sometime it became a club lake with about 60 houses, piers, and boat-houses. A violent Death came to the owners (muder/suicide) and the property got tangled up in a legal battle for over 30 years, the lake and surrounding property was locked up and no one was allowed on the property... With the legal wars comming to a close we were able to visited the lake and wet a hook, probably the first time the lake has been fished in 30 years.... The place was strange as time and nature had gone to work on the place, most of the building had caved in and the piers had rotted away, and boat houses were falling apart. Since the place was locked down so fast 30 years ago the club members personal gear was left behind. Boats were trapped and sunk in the boat houses, batteries were still hooked up to chargers, old fishing gear and lights were left decaying on remnents of piers, old washtubs and pans still hung on sides of decayed buildings... It was a GHOST LAKE just waiting for life to return.... After clearing a camp site, and perpairing the road some we decided to fish a little and the three of us in two small john boats with electric troll motors fish with plastic worms/lizards for about 3 hours. The property maybe dead but the lake was very much alive as we scored 12 Bass in the 3,4, 5 lb range and one that went 7lb4oz. (I,m not the one who caught it) The fish fry that evening for us and our wifes was great as we set on the bank eating and listen to that spring water fall over the spillway, trying to here the ghost......
