[black]I'm no expert here, but it has always been my understanding that it does. It seems logical that it would, the water entering is colder, and because the lake water is warmer, the river water seeks the bottom, (warm water rises) and if there is a river channel for it to follow, that would be the natural path.[/black]

I don't have any scientific data to confirm this, but just using my limited common sense, it works for me.

I tend to beleive that current is for the most part is streight forward.

I live on a lake that has both flowing springs and river currents.

from what I have seen, cold water dose not seek the bottom like air in a refrigerator.

when water enters in to a lake it stays at the same level it entered the lake at. Not seeking the chanels of the river bed in the lake.

if cold water flows in at the top of the river and you have worm water coming out of a lake you will have a flow of cold water at the level of the entry point unless it hits an obstical to change its corce.

This has all been proven by testing of ground water testings in the state of michigan. Using dies to determin the water flow where it goes from one point to another.

so if the river is a worm water feed from a lake and the cold water springs feed on to the top of the river, the chanel will remain worm untill a structure or feed is great enough to make a change.

hope this makes sence to ya.
