I’m a musky addict who moved from Rochester New York to Boise Idaho this year, and I’ve spent the last few weeks researching musky fishing opportunities surrounding my new home. Pineview is a place I definitely will explore.
So now I have a few questions – first, do you still guide Pineview, and if not, do you know anyone who does? When it comes to musky fishing, the advantage of using a guide to help learn a lake is worth its weight in gold.
How late into the fall can one generally fish Pineview before its impossible to launch a boat, or it freezes? Are there any hazards to watch for when boating there?
How early in the spring do people start to fish tigers in Pineview, and when do you think the action peaks? I’m not at all into crowds or being buzzed by jet skies – and I’ve read much about heavy traffic on Pineview during the summer, so this will likely be a pre Memorial day / post Labor day thing for me.
I also read an old post of yours where you talked of starting a musky club – did that ever materialize? I was a member of Niagara Musky Association (NMA) in NY – those types of clubs are great because you get to associate with people having common interests as you, but also clubs such as NMA are very good for organizing fisherman’s efforts to protect the fishery and have their voice heard with the powers that be to make sure the fish will be there for future generations to enjoy. I’m impressed with many of the posts I’ve read about Pineview, and fisherman’s desire to release the tigers so there will be more and bigger fish to catch tomorrow.
