Here's a couple of helpful tips for all you campers & worm catchers!!

Last year at Wal-Mart I purchased a LED Headlamp that had the regular spot/flood lights but also had a Red light mode. I thought this must be for night vision for your eyes to adjust or something technical.

Well camping over the summer the bugs would come into the camper with a vengence - heading for the light that was lit. Then I thought to try the red headlamp - WOW -- NO BUGS would follow the red light and they wouldn't be attacted inside the camper.

Then I wnet out to try night crawler hunting which I excelled at during my teenage years but the crawlers are much faster now!! Well with the Red Headlamp the worms are "sitting ducks" - they can still hear your feet stomping but now I can catch all the crawlers I need without worrying about the light scaring them.

Give these two tips a try - hope they help your outdoor experience and save you a few $$ for other costs the worms!!

Great tips Craig, how much do these LED Headlamps cost?

They cost $15.64 and they come with battery's. The batterys last for over six months - through elk season last year - many auto repairs, and camping all summer before I accidently left in on and had to replace the 3 AAA's. This is by far the best & cheapest headlamp I have ever had - I had petzel(?) and it was pretty good but much more costly and battery's lasted a couple of trips.

They do have a wide selection of headlamps but look for the one with 4 modes - spot, flood, spot & flood, & red.

You won't be sorry!

Nothing worse than having a swarm of mesquitos all over you when your tieing a new lure on...

Good tips. For some reason I can't see the red lights as well, but I've found the green ones are really nice as well.

I probably have the same headlight. It is everlast brand. It has a single white LED and a regular flashlight bulb along with the two red led's. The red lights are plenty bright. And the white led will blind you. My son was wearing it around the fire and was blinding everyone he talked to. I never really thought about the red not attracting mosquitos but now that you mention it they weren't as badd with the red on.

definately a good buy I think mine was 19 dolars but I bought it back in may and have used it atleast once a week since.

As a kid we used to take the plastic from red bags like Huggies and pull over our flashlights. That doesn't just work for night crawlers - it's also a quick fix for a trailer light out, just remember not to back it into the water . Been there- done that

Also good for hunting. Wont spook game animals while walking in to your spot in the dark.

I have three of them, one in the truck, one the tackle bag, and one on the boat. They are real handy when night night fishing out of a toon while sitting over fish. The red light doesn't penetrate the water like the supre bright led. Also, the white led will charge glow spoons, jigheads, etc. like a charm.
