I haven't fished the Nell for over a week so I went today...
Boy is it getting low and the fish are changing to the fall pattern, the water temp is 64 and the air temp when I got there at 8:15 was 45, the wind came up at 10:30 and when I left at 1:30 was still blowing....

The best part of the day was I found my pole the water skier pulled in about three weeks ago and in great shape....

Well the fishing was slow until I found out what or where the bass was, at the boat launch there was bass and perch minnows all over against the bank but most of the bass came from 5' to 10' of water and one in 20' of water with one brown that was 27" long came out of 30' of water....

The biggest bass was 16 1/2" and the small one was 13", I ended up with 15 bass 1 brown and 4 or 5 perch all are still there for others to catch....

And all was caught on drop shot, tried top water with no luck....

Cliff, I bet that put a Smile on your face to get your expensive rod and reel back, and to find it still in great shape.[Smile]

Although I love your bass reports, I am always more impressed by the size of the browns that you land. If you have any pictures of these large nelle browns, please post them. I would also appreciate advice on how to get them. I am not much of a bass guy so don't worry about me stealing any of them from you. I just can't figure out how to get the big nell browns.

I was out there this afternoon, and the spot I always fish for bass only produced 1 bass, it was also 16.5 inches. I noticed that the rainbows were being caught alot this afternoon. I caught 5 of them on 4 inch senkos. Are the bass slowing down for fall now? I have never had that many trout go for my senkos in one afternoon.

Thanks for the report. I might head up on Friday. Is the perch fishing still good?

The bass are not slowing down just moving to the fall hunts when you find them they will eat....

Un like what people say bass don't slow down in winter they move to other spots to feed....

I find it disturbing that a skier "took out" your gear a few weeks back.

I fished Rock Cliff Sunday (rather, held on to the boat in the gale winds), and rec boaters seem to think the 150 foot rule is really the 150 inch rule.

I'd take numbers, but they're just movin by too fast. Frustrating.

Happy for you that you got your gear back. That's one of those "life bonus" moments.

When the skier took your gear did it happen to hook him? That would almost make it worth it. I ca't stand it when those guys come so close. I'm going to start having an anchor sized treble fook ready for just such an occasion.

Most people don't call the parks people to report the skiers when they get the fly by's...

I have been talking to the parks people about ridding along with me for a days fishing at Jordanelle so they can see just what goes on I hope we can do this next year...

I put up some phone # of who to call about this trouble with them and to try to get more wakeless water for fishing and such for next year, the more that call the more they will lesson....

Here are the # again Jim Herman 1-435-649-9109 for Jordanelle and eastern waters...

Or if you are on the waters of any state parks get the # for the one you are at and call in to it when you have trouble.....

Thanx for putting the phone number up, BR. I will use it. I actually am naive enough to believe that if you give a Jim Herman type some "customer" input, they'll listen.

Weather permitting, I'm planning on launching this Sunday around 7 A.

I had the pleasure of meeting you last year at Rock Cliff when I was out on my 9' pontoon. I know there's alot of guys out there on pontoons, however, mine was the only one with an outboard on the back. That was a while back, so I don't expect you to remember, but you got a real kick out of that. You were on someone else's boat that day, and you were in the bass seat (appropriately).

I'm now in a black Smoker Craft 16'. You're always welcome to pull up, gunwale to gunwale, to chat it up.
