The wife and I will be at Brownlee this coming Wednesday(26th)to Sunday(30th). We will be camping at Woodhead, so if anyone is around swing by and say hello. Just look for the good looking blonde driving the black "Team Quill" Lund. I'll be the fat guy with her.[cool]

Sounds like fun, I usually spend the first week of October at Woodhead, but think I will try Hells Canyon Res. this year...never fished it and thought I would try something different . Looking forward to hearing how ya did at Brownlee.

We ended up staying until today, weather was not the greatest, but it was a enjoyable 7 days. The crappie bite was hot and heavy, just no big ones. The average size seem to be about 7 inches, but you would get a nice one every so often. The schools of crappie were huge. You would have a hook up on just about every cast. Just wished they would have been bigger.
We catfished from the bank on one windy day and just picked up one 20"er. We did catch the typical smallmouth bass, ranging from 10" to 16". We also caught a bunch of 7" bluegill.
Brought the camper home, so Brownlee is done until next spring.

I put my trip off till next Tuesday (10-9) just curious how busy Woodhead was ?...did ya drive to Oxbow or Hells Canyon Res. or hear any reports on either one ?
Thanks Alot,
Scott

Woodhead was pretty empty in the C and D section. The last 2 days we were there I think there was only 2 other campers in C&D and maybe 10 in A&B sections. There was also a bass tourney with about 20 boats on Saturday. I believe 1st was 18lbs (5 fish).
We did take a drive down to Hells Canyon Dam, and below Brownlee Dam not many fisherman around. Below Oxbow Dam there seemed to be a bunch of campers, boaters and bank fisherman. Below Hells Canyon Dam it looked like about 15 people Salmon or Steelhead from the Bank.
You should have the place all to yourselves, the spots still had the water on and they thought they would until the 15th or so. The showers and bathrooms always have water. The dump station also has fresh water, even if they do shut off water to the individual sites to winter rates. It was pleasent in the evening with a big roaring fire and the place all to ourselves.

Great...Thanks for the info...Woodhead is my favorite campground...except when it's packed, I used to keep my trailer at the Gateway all summer till it got to be where it was almost impossible to find a spot at Woodhead on the weekend (or weekday for that matter) in the summertime, will let ya know how Hells Canyon was for fishing when I get back.
Thanks Again,
Scott
