Hit starvation this morning about 8 am, the water temp was 61 degrees. We trolled bottom bouncers north of the dam. We caught a bunch of perch biggest one going 11". We caught two walleye, one about 12" and the other close to 15". We managed only one smallmouth in the boat. We lost one that I would guess was close to 2 pounds. I purchased a bunch of worm harnesses off of e-bay and when we got the smallmouth ready for the net the line at the top hook broke off and we lost everything spinner included. I managed to lose three other perch the same way. I believe the rest of those harnesses will now become spare parts.

I would check the line in those harnesses. If it is old mono you should replace it. It isn't very hard to do and it beats the frustration of losing fish and tackle. I am glad you found a couple of walleyes. gshorthair

How deep were you trolling ? Did you go to the area where the river comes in ?

just retie the harnesses your self with 10/12lb. mono. and string the beads and blabe on. it's really easy to make worm/minnow harnesses yourself. you can pick up beads at wally's in the craft dept. for lots cheaper then cabelas. you just need the clives and blades and hooks. later chuck

We tried to stay between 15' and 20' of water, both walleye's we caught we were deeper. I would say somewhere between 20' and 30'. We saw were the river came in, but we didn't go up into that cove. We fished that bay just outside of that cove.

Sounds like a fun trip. I was up there the 26-27th and we boated about 8 browns going 2-6 lbs. We were in the same area just in deeper water using the downriggers 18-25ft deep. Not very many fish but they sure were fun to fight and kept things interesting. Got a couple hookups with some SMB closer to eastern shore but they shook our lures when they jumped out of the water. We had our second rods long-lining the top and never got a bite on them.
Glad you had a good trip too.
Lotsa Luck
