Hi I'm from Malaysia, and we usually go for snakeheads (or we call it toman)
Just wondering if there are any around on your end?

We don't have the exact snake head here but we do have a couple in the US called Bowfin and there are Musky. They are distant cousins to the Snakehead.[cool]

There are snakeheads in the Potomac River in Maryland and Virginia. The first one was found in a pond in Laurel, Maryland and they have spread to the river. They are considered a real threat and there are efforts underway to eradicate them. Apparently they can live without being in the water for a good while and can 'walk' to another source of water. I guess they're pretty predatory and are a threat to the indiginous species.

Yea, I did hear about that a while ago... the species that you are referring (we call it Haruan if I'm not mistaken from your description) to actually is pretty hard to find in our waters nowadays as it's believed (and some say proven) to have medicinal properties if consumed.
We have been facing similar issues for the past few years when the Peacock Bass was introduced into out waters, really becoming a threat to our indiginous species as well...

You cant see the eye on the tail because it is curled up twards me... Bowfin "dowg fish" have an eye on the tail, Not a real eye, it just looks like a painted fish eye... It is rather large

I've never seen anything like that snakehead. It almost looks like a crossbreed between a Walleye and a Bowfin?

Florida seems to have a bunch of them along with the st lorance river in new york...
lots of teeth on them critters, and the can live for a couple days out of water I hear... much like the walking cat fish of florida...
