[#808000]Well after a rather boring morning this morning I decided to drive the whole 15 miles and hit the Uintas for some afternoon fishing. I mainly stayed to the Smiths Fork from Stateline Res up to China Medows. I caught plenty of little Brookies on a pure Gold #2 Panther Martin on that stretch of river. Although I stayed mostly to the river I did hit Bridger Lake on my way home where I caught several planter Bows on a white Rooster Tail. While at Bridger there were a few folks that appeared to be drowning some worms that were doing rather well also.[/#808000]

[#808000]I talked to plenty of people up there today that were getting ready for the Utah elk hunt that they said opened Saturday, and passed quite a few folks headed up there on my way home. So if you are headed up to the Uintas this weekend hunting make remember to take a pole with you the fish are rather hungry up there right now[/#808000]

Sure was a nice day for it--maybe the last for a while. I like that little stretch of creek too. Ever fish below Stateline?[Wink]

Elk hunters are whizzing through Manila today too. Does anyone ever hunt without ATV's any more? Might see more elk![Wink]

[#808000]Yep I fish that stretch below the Dam quite alot also. I usually park right on the border and fish mostly the Wyoming side though. I was going to hit it today but they are not letting very much water out of Stateline and the river looked to be barely running in a few stretches so I decided to go further south.[/#808000]

[#808000]I also like Gilbert Creek, you can usually catch some pretty decent Brookies, especially for such a small creek.![/#808000][Wink]

Braz,
Gilbert Creek on the Utah side and down a ways into WY no longer has brook trout. It was rotenoned a few years back (4 years?) and replanted with native cutthroat. Its still a remarkable stream, but only for cutts now.

[#808000]Yep you are right they did kill it a few years ago but there still is brookies in it just not as plentiful as it used to be. I caught several out of there earlier this summer on the Wyo side of the creek![/#808000]

[#808000]LMAO, You're killing me Jim! The reintroduction of Cutts really does not bother me too much, in fact I am in support of it in most waters including Gilbert Creek. Labarge Creek now that is a different story!LOL[/#808000]

Wyobraz those are some great pics. Love the color of Brookies. And btw, is there any better lure out there than a small black and gold panter martin? Best lure ever invented in my opinion. No tackle box should be without one. [Wink]
