I am always axious for the ice fishing season to start and this year more than others. I will be deploying early next year and hope to get my ice fill before than. I was wondering everybod's predictions of when there will be safe-accesible ice. I would really like to be able to hit Scofield or anywhere else with ice by the end of November. Looking at my crystal ball and by the way my knuckles are feeling I am going to guess that I will break out my sled on 30 November. What do you think my chances are?

I ice fished on 5 to 6 inches of ice on November 18, 2006 (on a small undisclosed reservoir) and I ice fished Huntington Reservoir on November 25th and Scofield on December 2nd (both had about 3 inches of ice).

I will be ice fishing on huntington the 24th. I was last year and the year before. I just hope to doing it sooner though. Every year I want the little ice age to come back.

No sure what the exact date was, but the first place that had ice last year was Huntington i think. Hopefully we will have "safe" ice by mid november.

I like to ice fish in the morning of turkey day. Usually it is scofield, but not the case last year. I was on huntington less then a week later.

[cool][#0000ff]As I reckymember the first REAL ice fishing was on Fairview Lake...by the Fuzzy one. The ice was like 1/4" thick and he had a helium balloon tied to his belt. He always pushes the envelope to be the first one on hard water every year.[/#0000ff]

I know but believe it or not I have fished on less. In those conditions I throw on a life preserver (and often we tie ourselves together with a long rope), so as BLM told me one day, "at least you will be able to attend your own funeral".

oh come on dude a 1/4" of ice? i'm ice crazy but not quite that bad.. i'm sure that ice was well over a 1/2 thick! lol [sly].
it's ok to push the envelope a little but safty is inportet! if you are going on thin ice make sure you have your last will made out first.. oh i mean make sure you tie off on a rope and where a PFD..

2 lakes that i know of (not huntington) will ice first. most years it's around the 15 of november depending on the wether paterns.. close to the end of november huntington will ice and scofield will be about 2 weeks later. but this year scofield might freez up sooner because of how low the water is this year..

got me a DVR for the aqua-vu up at sportsmans warehouse in St.cloud Minnsota the other day on sale for 99.00 was 199.00.. i hope to get some good footage this year of some good jig strikes.. dont know if i'll try it on the mack's at FG but will be fun for alot of other lakes.. and found a shimano calcutta 200 for 83.00 wish they had more than one.. lol
