I went on a hunt with my brother and my dad. This was the first time that we have been on any kind of hunt together. So, even without getting the elk, it would have been fun.
My brother has tried for 8 years to draw a tag in AZ and finally drew one.
We found this bull the first thing on the first morning. Chad wasn't sure he wanted to shoot the first thing he saw since it had taken so long to draw the tag. We found a second larger bull and decided to go after it. When the second bull was shot out from under us, Chad decided to go after the first bull we saw.
He made the shot from 350 yards.
It took us many hours to get him quartered and packed out.
He hasn't had the bull scored yet, but we figured he would go around 350. (two different guys rough scored it, one measured 370 and the other 330. The guide said he should go about 350)

Even though it was a lot of work, it was fun to spend time with my dad and brother.

He is a keeper. Congrats to all.

Thats a really nice elk. Good swords and very nice 6ths. Symmetrical too. I'll bet he'll score in the high 350's and maybe in the 360's gross.

What a great animal. Congrats on the good hunt. Too bad about the bigger one though.

Only down side to such wonderful elk is getting them out. Great looking rack.

I still haven't heard what he scored. I call my brother quite often, but he still hasn't found out the score.

I was kind of wondering if Cabelas or Bass Pro Shop would pay for the mounting if you hung it in their store for a time.

I agree, I wouldn't have waited for a minute. I would have dropped him.

You are so right. He shot it at 8 am and we didn't get back to the cabin until 5 pm.
It wasn't all that far, but it was straight up the hill. Very, very steep.
