I am new to your site, and I was hoping for some suggestions or feedback on augers. I have a hand auger, and I'd like to replace it with a gas powered one. I have been looking at Jiffy auger's. I'd appreciate any suggestions.

I have an older Eskimo Shark and I have had no problems with it. A lot of Eskimo's new models have too much plastic and I have been on trips where the plastic and cold did not mix well.
I have never had or used a Jiffy, but would be very interested in what others had to say.

Hawkez, I can't remember if I told you about my auger.
After my 5th returned auger to Sportsman's, I was thinking that my latest auger would finally be a good one.
Well that thought was short lived.
The pull starter once again broke on that one.
This time I called and emailed Eskamo directly with my concerns.
To my surpeise, I was put in touch with someone from their engineering dept.
I explained my problem to him and he stated that models newer than mine had the metal parts back in them.
He sent the new parts to Wilson Lane Service in the Ogden area, and they installed the new parts free of charge.
I hope that this will be the last auger that I have to deal with for a long time.
I told Sportsman's about what Eskamo did for me and they said that they would refer others to Wilson Lane, if they have the same problem with their augers.
Now as far as the first question goes,
Eskamo said that they now use the same motor as Strike Master uses in many of their augers.
I would buy either of these makes but I also have no knowledge or information partaining to Jiffy augers.

I've never had a problem with my Eskimo Stingray. Starts right up and cuts holes.
