[size 1]I went over to my favorite fishing hole today on the Rabbit river in Michigan. I found myself 4 hungry browns. All were in the 8-12 inch range. Caught them on mini silver jointed rapalas and they were all JUMPERS.

I almost felt bad because my wife (the one taking the pic) was fishing same spot with no luck at all. She was using similar lure but what made the difference I think was presentation. She was casting down stream bringing the lure up. I was casting above stream and bringing it down.

Do you think that the rivers flow made her lure dive deeper causing her to go 0 for 0 , or would it be that the browns were after baitfish retreating to the lake ?
Tell the wife she has a great camera eye , those photos are fantastic !

I catch a lot of browns at Pentwater and in Ludington , Manistee is just loaded with them , My largest so far was right here in Gladwin . 27" , and I thought it was a northern untill it finally surfaced !

The water was pretty fast so that observation might be right on. I've fished that hole several times. If fishing it one way doesn't produce fish then you move down or up river and try again. Doesn't seem to be one way when it comes to that hole.

There have been plenty of days when I get skunked and she is reeling them in left and right all around me. Seems to jump back and forth between us.

It's nice fishing with another person because it's quicker to see what the fish are hitting on. A lot of times I'll start off with surface lures and she will go with diving. After the first couple fish the other person switches and then it's a race to who gets the biggest in the boat before the sun goes down.

My favorite trout hole is closed till the last sat of april.... dont even think of wetting a line unless you want a fine....
