I know the report is a little late, but here it goes...

Went to Deer Creek on Saturday morning, hit the water at about 8AM. Took the girlfriend out for her first on-the-water fishing experience... it went pretty well. We were trolling bottom bouncers with a nightcrawler/spinner-rig about 2.5 feet behind the bottom bouncer. Used both real crawlers and Berkley Gulp crawlers in pumpkinseed. The Gulp worms seemed to work better. Caught about 8 rainbows, biggest one coming in at 16 and the other ones were close behind that -- all were released. Also got one small walleye -- too small to keep, unfortunately.

The biggest rainbow, who fought like a bull, was caught when we were reeling up one of the bottom bouncers that was rigged with a Berkley Gulp minnow in yellow... he hit it about 10 feet from the boat.

Didn't get to fish for too long, but it was good to get out. Saw about 10 other boats and lots of shore anglers. Really fun, lots of action... hoping to get back up there on saturday and do a lot better.

From your post I gather that you were fishing from a boat. How hard was it to launch? Is the water still as low as it was a month ago?

Welcome to the site zlbball and thanks for posting your report. Too bad the walleye catching wasn't better but it sounds like you did good on the trout. I guess your girlfriend caught a few fish from the sounds of it, I wish I could get my wife on the lake with me. Do you fish Deer Creek often for eyes or trout? WH2

Another good Deer creek report, thanks for posting it. Was there any size to the walleye you caught? Since you were dropshoting, can I assume you were fishing plastics? If so, what color worked best? Thanks for any info you care to share. WH2

the walleye were 14-18 inches, berkely alive minnow in pumkinseed color caught the smallies and walleyes. chart shad color caught the Lbass.
