i'm going to be in lehi tomorrow and figured i should go down to utah lake and try to get some bass. (largemouth, smallmouth, or white bass). i'm probably going to try saratoga springs or the mouth of the jordan. has anybody had success there? i'll just try things i think will work but any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks!

[cool][#0000ff]Haven't heard any good reports from that side of the pond recently. Once the water drops to below 55-60, the largies tend to quiet down and look for areas where warm springs heat the water a few degrees. I measured the temp at 51 on Monday so it is a bit chilly for prime bassin'.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]On the other hand, there are areas where the white bass school up and fishing can be nonstop if you can find them. Again, warm springs draw them in, but you can also catch them around structure. If there is enough depth inside the harbors, they will often school up around the docks or pilings. Vertical jigging a small jig or spoon, tipped with crawler, can be very productive. Not sure how much water is left in the harbor at Saratoga Springs, but that could be a good bet. That harbor can also kick out some largemouth if you fish slow plastic around the rocks or other structure.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Another spot that often produces this time of year is the outflow channel just before the pump house on the Jordan. It will also be one of the first places to freeze when it gets cold enough and can be a great ice fishing spot.[/#0000ff]

Its been a while, but I used to get some largies in the cold. 1/4 oz bitsy flip pig and jigs, or small purple curly tail grubs. I would fish the grubs if I were you, you have a better chance of catching something else.
