Just looking for some educated opinions.
In the last several years the DWR has treated several lakes on the Boulder Mtn. to remove stunted populations of brook trout. These lakes now have cutthroats and tiger trout in them.
The majority of the Boulder has special regs that close lakes to fishing from November to April 20. I have heard that these lakes are closed to protect brook trout when they are most vulnerable.
Now the question: Would it be detrimental to the lakes that have the newly introduced populations of tiger trout and cutthroats to be open year round? Do you think there would be enough of an impact by ice fisherman on these lakes to warrant a winter closure?
I for one would love to see them open. I love snowshoeing into backcountry lakes where you won't have anybody else around. However, I would hate to harm these fragile lakes.
It would be worth it to me to set the ball in motion to get the regs changed if I don't hear any adverse arguments.
