I'm going fishing this weekend, unfortunately the boat is out of commission so it'll be from the shore.
I've heard that good things are happening at Scofield and Strawberry, so I'm planning on going to one or the other. Does anyone have any reports on either? Also, does anyone have lures they'd suggest for shore fishing?

I'll be at Scofield tomorrow morning, fishing from shore with my boss, and a few friends from work.
My boss has been up there the last two weekends and caught some amazing tigers in size and quantity. He's just been netting minnows, killing them, and throwing them out with a weight or bobber filled with water, and fished off the bottom. I just saw a photo from last Saturday with him and a 20" tiger. Crazy.
I imagine using frozen minnows from Sportsmans would probably do the trick if you don't have access to a minnow net. I'm not sure if Shiners or Chub minnows would be better at Scofield. Anyone?
Do a search on the forum for "shore" and "strawberry" and find out how that has been. I'm not sure .
Also, shoot fish4fun05 a pm, and he'll tell you about a great bay at Strawberry that would probably be good from shore still.

I've always had the best luck with those red-sided shiners. The fish almost always strike them hard. When ice fishing, I just let drop them in the hole with only one little split shot, just enough to get it to barely sink and the fish hammer them.
I haven't used the chub minnows, so I can't comment on those.

The easy choice for me would be Scofield. More rainbows and tigers to boot. Throw some 1/16 ounce tube jigs in green hues.

To bad the boat is out but for numbers and size and catch and release the berry would be my choice . my freinds retired dad fishes scofield just about everyday and he says scofield has been producing nice tigers and bows. he uses lures. Personally i use a krocodile chrome at scofield and i always catch fish over 20 inches.Hope this helps.
