Has anyone stayed at temple bar. I am thinking of leaving lake mead marina heading out to temple bar for a few days of fishing. Maybe I will bump into mead stripers on the house boat.

Hey Evandostert,
Sounds like a great trip. Mead stripers knows the best spots up there. But when I went I saw alot of unmarked REEFS BE CAREFUL! But there is a place close by I have recently fished. We caught Hundreds of eating fish. We caught so many it averaged one fish per person every four seconds. It was called Bonelli Bay it is located in the Virgin Basin close to temple bar. The GPS location for Bonelli is 36'04.80' Latitude North and114'26.75' Longitude West on the map I have. The way the lake has gone down this may be land now. Good luck and Happy Thanksgiving.

Hi Evandostert:
Did you make it out to Temple Bar last week? My trip was fantastic except for the high winds on Tuesday night. The 50 mph + gusts hit us so hard, that it took our anchor stakes out of the shore line. Luckily, we ended up getting beached safely in a nice little cove. It was a bit scary nonetheless. The weather was absolutely gorgeous for the rest of the week. Fishing was hot at Channel Island, Ladder Cove and Delmar Butte. We spent our last night (Sat) at the first cove directly east of Delmar. Fishing was very slow at dusk, so I kept chumming every 15 minutes, and BAM hit a huge school of stripers. My girlfriend and I fished for a couple hours, and called it a night. My nephews did some fishing as well but they were more focused on enjoying the full moon and the huge bonfire we created.
Please let me know how you did.
Best regards,
Paul

Hey Evandostert,
There were actually several houseboats in the Temple Basin last weekend. Did you rent a houseboat out of Lake Mead Marina? When I was anchored at Channel Island, there was another houseboat passing through. It definitely wasn't a houseboat from Temple Bar Marina. If you want to cruise and fish in the Temple Basin, I highly recommend you just rent it out of Temple Bar Marina. They have the newest houseboats of all the fleets at Lake Mead. Also, I understand it takes almost 8 hours to get from Lake Mead Marina to Temple Bar Marina. You're better off just getting the houseboat at Temple Bar Marina. The fishing in Temple Basin is excellent and there is very little boat pressure on that part of Mead.
Best regards,
Paul

I wimped out when i saw the wind speed readings. I ended up just going out sun during the day. Temple bar is not that far when you cruise at 45. I never made it to Temple bar but plan on trying it this coming weekend. Sounds like your trip was a blast. The wind does add some excitement while tied up.

You know we were really lucky with the wind last week. We arrived late Saturday night (11/17) and left early Sunday morning (11/25). During that entire time, we only had high winds on Tuesday night. Unfortunately, it resulted in our houseboat getting pulled from shore but luckily nothing happened. I understand that there were few other days where the wind was pretty bad but I guess we were anchored in spots that were very well protected. In fact, we were anchored on Channel Island in Gregg's Basin on Thanksgiving Day, and there was no wind. It was very peaceful and the view was amazing.
Sorry, you had the bad experience with the wind. Mead definitely has its shares of high winds there. I would hate to cruise through the Virgin Basin with high winds. Definitely try out Temple Bar when the winds are calm.
Best regards,
Paul
