Went out today about 5am in the kayak. Hit Lake Mead Marina and hung out around the tires for a while. Started the day with one fat catfish that weighed in at about 4 1/2lbs, and then proceeded to nail small stripers one after another for the rest of the morning. There was a big school moving up and down the water column with no apparent pattern, or reason, for that matter. They started deep (about 60 feet) and moved up to within about 15 feet of the surface, and then went back down to the bottom. They continued to scatter and regroup, and go up and down until they moved off at about 10:30. Brought a friend out, and he was able to catch his first kayak fish. No final fish count. Maybe 30-40 or so stripers under 14 inches, and 3 that were over 1 1/2 lbs. Beautiful day on the water. No wind, sunny and warm. Great day to be out.
