Four of us fished Trial Lake today. Pleasantly surprised to find about 3 1/2 inches of solid ice. Got greeted by a stiff wind from the north, that blew steady nearly the entire day. Fortunately it wasn't bitter cold. It did stay cold enough that we were scooping our ice holes all day long. Catching was excellent for small fish. We caught regular and albino rainbows, brook trout, cutts, and tiger trout. We were hoping for a few grayling, but no such luck. The largest fish were about 14 inches long. Those brookies are sure purty. The fish would hit anything that wasn't too large. I had the most success on a non-weighted small yellow tube jig, fished above one of TubeDudes' custom lures. They would bite crawlers or meal worms equally and I caught at least ten fishing artifically.
