Other then ice fishing what other spots are good to hit for a few hours around here.

[cool][#0000ff]There is still a lot of "soft water". Very few lakes are fishable through the ice. If you are after trout, Jordanelle, Deer Creek and Strawberry are all good bets. For some warm water fishing you can hit several spots around Utah Lake for white bass and walleye. They have begun moving into the deeper harbors, like Provo Boat harbor and American Fork. Lindon has not been producing well inside but there are some good reports from outside the harbor.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Many of the community lakes have new plants of rainbows with some holdover catfish. And, of course, there is the everlovin' Jordan...all the way from the pumphouse in Lehi to the lower reaches near Salt Lake.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]What kind of fish would you like to catch and how far are you willing to drive...and will you be boatin', bankin', tubin' or toonin'?[/#0000ff]

[Sad] banking no boat.

[cool][#0000ff]That definitely limits your options. Still some good action on rainbows from shore at Jordanelle...and occasionally at Deer Creek. Strawberry seems to be going into winter mode, with most of the fish being caught in deeper water. Possible to get a few from shore but you have to get lucky to find where they are in close. Having a boat will let you cover more water.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Haven't heard anything from Mantua or Pineview lately. I suspect that most of the fish are well away from the shorelines in both of those lakes too.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Until Scofield freezes it has been putting out some good trout wherever you can still fish from shore. The upcoming storm might drop the temps enough afterward that the ice will finish off the shore access.[/#0000ff]

[cool][#0000ff]The best I can suggest is watch the reports and PM anybody who posts a good report about someplace you might like to fish. This is a transition time and it is really hard to suggest anything that has a high percentage of being really good. Things are changing from day to day. [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]My suggestion is to just gather up some tackle and head for some body of water. Keep looking and fishing until you find some fish. That is what most of us are doing right now.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]During the late spring, summer and early fall, when most fish are shallower and more active, it is easier to make suggestions for someone and to have them at least catch a few fish. From now until the ice season sets in for good, a lot of us are just counting on good luck and good timing to find some willing fish.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]But, don't give up and don't jump off your tackle box yet.[/#0000ff]
