I'm planning to fish Devil's Creek and Deep Creek this Friday Dec 7th. Sure would like to know if anyone has some info on the ice conditions.....do I take the Auger or pontoon boat?

Thanks for your replies!

If you do get to ice fish it please tell us how you did.

I am hoping that it's not that in between- Too much ice for a toon and not thick enough to stand on.

As of tue. Devil creek was 100% ice free. I think it will be OK if you leave your auger at home. i don't know about deep creek but should be about te same.

Wackmaster,

Thanks for the update.

Trout Hunter,

Welcome to BFT (bigfishtackle)!
Considering Devil Creek was ice free as of Tuesday, I would be very surprised if you could not launch a pontoon on the north end of the reservoir this weekend. The north end of Devil Creek freezes last. Based on my experience over the past few years, Devil Creek and Deep Creek get safe within a few days of eahother. If I were you I would also bring the auger just incase. Good luck and be safe if you get out.

Thanks for the info! I have a friend from Alaska visiting and we just want to get out and fish! Last year we I "ice fished" with pontoon boats and fly rods at Daniels...we had a great time. We may have to repeat the adventure! I did ice fish Devils Creek once last year and was surprised at how many fish I caught. Hope to repeat that one too.
