For freshwater, I have 4 Bass boxes, 3 panfish, 2 Trout, 11 Flyfishing (fresh and saltwater flies) 1 Catfish box and 1 general kit that can be taken anywhere for any species of toothy critters.

I won't even go into how many I have for Saltwater since this is the freshwater board.[cool]

I only have 1 small freshwater box and 1 large and 1 small saltwater box.

I don't need much tackle for freshwater fishing around here. The primary target species here is Catfish, bass, and panfish. Being that I don't target LMB very often, and when I do, I usually do so in farm ponds where a diverse tackle selection isn't necessary, I don't require a large assortment of lures. For panfishing, I mostly use live bait like wax worms or wigglers, so all I need there is small hooks, split shots, and micro bobbers. I also have a few beetle spins in an assortment of colors as well as popping flies. For cats, it's a carolina rig with a tiny spro swivel and a Kahl hook, so that doesn't take up much room. So, a smaller box does the trick for me.

My ocean fishing boxes are far more diverse, it's just all in a couple boxes. All my larger, offshore trolling equipment is stored in my small box since I don't use them very often and rarely take them with me since i've moved back from Guam. My larger box which gets frequent use is filled with an assortment of tackle that enables me to target specific species with a multitude of rigs. This requires many different types of hooks, sinkers, swivels, and skirts. Being that I make all my rigs, and much of the leader material I use is just heavy mono, I don't require multiple boxes. I have learned that in the world of saltwater fishing, if you have the capability to make your own rigs, then it saves alot of space in the tackle box. LOL I think tubN2 is just a pack rat, because I know he can make his own rigs. [Tongue]

Five plastic tubs...Bass, Trout, Surf, Marlin. Fly. And a multitude of small bookbags and creels. Sometimes I bring it all, sometimes just a pocketful.[cool]

Hi All!

I have one box that I take with me and three large plastic containers I use to stock my box depending on what type of fishing I'm doing.
I've been trying to keep my stuff minimal. With that said I have 1 box that's multi-species, one tote that's mostly big, toothy critter, a bag with 3 containers in it with pan/trout gear, and a box full of stuff that hasn't been separated yet so I have no clue. Oh yeah, then there's the other tote which is in the same situation as the box. Gonna pull it out of small shed when the new shed is done being built.

I've already come to the conclusion that my wife is always right. So, if she says I have too much fishing equipment, I either sell it or hide it so she can't see it. I rarely ever win a battle. So, in words of the great book "The Art of War," don't fight a battle you can not win.

You might need to "Fish Down" for a while. No new stuff except line. Use everything you own and nothing else. You will find it is much harder to lose plugs in the trees and go thru mass quantities of plastics ...when your trying too. Make note of what you go thru first, your core. Everything else is just seasonal fluff. Box that stuff up with the season you need it written on the box. Mine says "Christmas."My good rods are slip into tubes screwed to the ceiling. When my ex-wife tried to break all my rods, she didn't even know about all the ones on the ceiling. Never looked up. Ha Ha Stupid *&%#?. Marriage and fishing don't mix...

[size 1]That is so freaking hilarious!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LMAO!!!! [/size]

[size 1]Good advice though. Fortunately, i'll never really have to worry about the fishing/marriage thing not mixing. It's an excuse for the boys and I to spend time together, and a reason for us to part ways for a few hours. Fishing is therapy for us both, even though she normally doesn't go. Some of our BFT'ers are fortunate enough to have have wives that dig fishing too, which is really cool. And vise versa for our female BFT'ers that manage to talk their not-so-inclined husbands into joining in. It's a vicious circle. LOL[/size]

takes a smart man to know when to shut up turn around and walk away take out the trash or cut the lawn or do something around the house.... Just dont go fishing after that argument, or she will up it a notch, then watch out for the fire storm to follow, ususaly it happens before you get home. [shocked]

ya, some of us have bearly lived though those arguments. and some of us have made wrong choices, thus we can tell ya first hand what not to do...[pirate][sly][laugh]

grampa was a lucky man, when he told grama he was going fishing, grama had the knives and wet rocks on the fish cleanin table when he got home and the oil on the stove pre heated, and she helped clean the fish... [cool]

he never had half the equipment I have, scratch that, he never had one% of what I have, just a few rods and reels a couple life jackets and a couple row boats and a two horse trolling motor.. one tackle box.... with hooks bobbers and sinkers... no lures or plugs to speak of....
