My dad and I fished Minidoka Dam on saturday. The ice was about 5 inches thick and clear. All the people fishing stayed pretty close to the south side. I didn't feel comfortable going out far on the ice. Fishing was slow. Of all the rods out, I saw 1 fish landed and to other bites. No action on my rods. I was just excited to try out my old (new to me) Strikemaster auger. It cuts the ice like butter.

Thanks for the report! I may hold off on Minidoka. You must have got a good Strikemaster, my choke and throttle are having big issues, I probably need to have t looked at.

Thanks for the report. I still think sitting on the ice in freezing weather without catching fish is better than sitting at home and watching football. I would still like to give it a try sometime this winter. I'm surprised the ice is thicker at Minidoka than Devil or Deep Creek. The snow/slush ontop of the ice at them has insulated them and kept them from forming as thick of ice as they would normally have in late December.
