Took the family up this morning for some fun before the blizzard was to roll in. Weather was just fabulous! Warm, sunny... so much for the "winter storm advisory" the news was trumpeting last night.

Got to the spot I wanted to fish, dropped in my line and before I could help either my wife or boy get their rig set up, I had one on that I promptly landed. Right about the time I got the last line in the water I hooked and landed another! Over the next 2 hours I landed 5 total, wife 0 boy 0... we had a ton of bites. Tried the underwater camera and could see them swim by but never really saw one nibble a line.

1 was a cutt, the rest bows... zero tigers (I've still never caught one). All fish in the 16-17" range.

Ice is thick 10" with lots of pockets of slush on top of it with usually a thin crust to make you think its safe. Saw a few stuck snowmobiles, alot of stuck atvs that broke through the top layer onto the slick 2nd layer. I never saw another person catch a fish, even talked to the people around us who were frankly, were getting pissed at the action we had and they werent getting even a bite /shrug

[cool]Wow. Don't know where you live dude, but it's 6 p.m. here in Bountiful and we've had 6 inches of snow in the last three hours or so and it's still coming down hard... This is great for our snowpack/fisheries next summer. Let's hope this keeps up all Winter. For right now it looks good though with more storms this week on the way. Wew-hew!!

My son and I had a fun time at Scolfield this morning too down on the south end, very simular experience. We landed 18 and threw back more than we saw others catching. Must have had the lucky spot.

The "Winter snow advisory" I was talking about was in effect from Sunday evening through monday morning... we almost called off our trip due to it. We went anyway and it was a beautiful day with not even a hint of bad weather until we got back home later in the day.

I agree though we need the snowpack, I just hope we dont get so much we get massive winter kills of our deer and elk herds like in '78, '83 and '93. Fishing is great but I love to hunt as well.

Nice one, Dallan! I haven't fished Scofield in years.

I need to get me one of those underwater cameras! Maybe next year. We should hook up sometime, you know...since we're both 'Cavemen' and all. [Tongue]

Heading to Mantua in the a.m., maybe I can catch more than 2 fish this time lol ...finally got our van fixed, boy that was a major pain.

A lot of snow dropped up here in Cache Valley. We sure needed it, so it's great to see. Let it snow!
