The July 20th overnight Fishing Academy trip was on the Eldorado out of Long Beach Sportfishing. We fished the area west of San Clemente Island along with several other boats from several landings. The weather was about as good as you could ask for. The water conditions were perfect for Albacore, 65 degree water that was very clean with a slight chop. We caught about the same amount of fish as the other boats in the area. It was the same Albacore routine, troll for a bit, then bait fish for a bit. Most were just jig stops with bait fish kinda hard to come by. The secret to getting bait fish was 15 pound test line. The guys that had 15 or 12 were doing much better than those that were using 20 or 30. The Albacore seem to be up and ready to play one day and the next day they have their nose in the mud.

Free passes on the Eldorado were won by Warren Vasquez, Bill Cassano, Aaron Seki, and Ruben Prado. Free BOOYAA sportswear was won by Tony Sanders, Dennis Inaba, Bob Nguyen, Carl Markham, and Jeff Lay.

I can't say enough about how well the Eldorado is being run. Each member of the crew is doing a great job.

The next overnight Fishing Academy is August 10th on the Truline out of Long Beach Sportfishing.
