Any ideas of the lakes or rivers or creeks or ponds that you might visit.Are you just trying to find places around your house and then what to do there? We can help.

I am wanting try the "trout tournament" out - so it will be in a small lake with stocked trout . I guess what I need is a kind of suggestion for a "starter kit" - I have been kind of reading about the HOW TO's -- now it is a matter of - "WHAT WITH's" see? buy the cheepest can of whole corn you can find, Castle is the cheepest in my hood, "I dont mean on sale I mean brand"
buy a box of leaf worms or baby crawlers.
make a worm sandwich, to do this slip the end of hook in to the end of the worm, then put on a curnel of corn, then loop the worm around the corn and hook again, break off the excess leaving enough worm to stay on the hook.
freshly planted trout go nutz over worm sandwiches.
the hook you want to use is a number 6 octopus hook with a leader line made from 4# test. the guys who are realy skilled use 2#...
depending on where you are fishing, if alloud, minow and shiners work well if big trout are planted, "20 inch or better"
freshly planted trout are eager to please, after they have been caught and released a few times they wise up...
that is when matching the hatch comes in to play, you need to be aware of what bugs are hatching and match your fly to your bug.

seeing as to not knowing the differance I will asume you are going with someone and you will be fishing from a boat.... there for you will be fishing with a spin cast rod.

If you are looking for the dough baits in a jar, Berkley Power bait would be the one you are after.
You will need to get several colors to find out which one satisfys the local fauna.
Spinning gear would be better in that case since you will be throwing out a light offering.
Tie a #14 or #12 treble hook on the end of the line. Add a 1/4 oz splitshot sinker about 12 to 18 inches away from the power bait.
If you are not bit on the first color withing 10 minutes, change to a different color. The fish will also change color preferrence as time goes on. Save the "Non Working" colors for another time. They may work at a different time.[cool]

My, you are taking notes. All good advice. I like to try and fish a little lighter if possible, depends on the situation. For small treble hooks we usually fish a number 16 with two pound leader if not running line. Mould the Gulp or powerbait cheese stuff in a little square, worm, or flat with a belly, just enough to barely cover the hook. All just like they sound. The Two pound line helps the bait spin around as it melts, the shape lets you think your doing something special. Its sounds like a small lake you will be angling so remember to not cast out to far. Many freshly stocked trout are accustomed to swimming around in two to three feet of water just like where they were raised. If you don't catch one pretty quick, cast out a little further next time. Keep an eye out at who is catching fish. Buddy up if you need to but at least get near them if you can. The trout will stick in certain areas and just stay there getting caught. Try to find that spot! Also before you go fish go down to the park, tie on a little stick or plastic thingie and fish it on the grass. Get comfortable casting and reeling. Let your thingie unspin when you lift it for each cast. Good practice, later your cheese will spin and letting it unspin before you cast will save you untangling time. Lastly, as you observe successful anglers....do what they do. Good luck and

Carol...welcome to your second class. Website 101. He is informing you that your Avitar is too large. In people speak that would mean that it has too many pixels. For an Avitar it should be 160x160. You can import your pics into any pic editing software even Microsoft Paint. I think Paint comes with your installation software. Anyway you can size down the picture and by doing so reduce your pixel count. This reduces the size of the picture you are posting. We are susposed to post fishing pics at 400x400. You can add larger ones to Albums that you can create on this website. That might be Lesson #2. Go into "Photo Gallery" above and mess around a little you might just pick it up on your own. There is always someone around on this board to help. This just in :::Check the top post on the "BASS" Section of this board. Find the first post: Pic resizing tool, download ,install, and follow easy directions. Checked it out and works fine...[cool]
