you just toss the old ones buy new ones? What kind is a good kind? I was looking at some of my hooks for my jigs and they are in a real need for some help!!! (might even help me catch more fish??!!)

I have never really bothered. But I imagine that if you are fishing with dull hooks, your catch rate will go up wif you buy new ones or sharpen the old ones...[angelic]

I keep one on a lanyard and use it when needed. Depending on circumstances (lure, time, tube/boat, ets.) it's easier to sharpen a hook than replace it. This usually happens when I'm getting a lot of hits but no hook ups. If the hook gets too beat up then I'll replace it but I usually will wait to do that when things are slow or at home.

I just picked up the habit up in Alaska where the reds can really beat up and dull the hooks so a sharp hook is a necessity.

I've got a couple of diamond hook sharpeners from Wally World. I think they increase my hookups and they're cheap. the hard part is remembering to take one with me.
