I was just wondering if anyone has ever had any kind of consistent success with fishing for Walleye at Utah Lake. If so, what tips do you have for me? I really don't know much about fishing for them. I have caught a number of Walleye before, but merely by coincidence. I've caught some while bass fishing during open water periods. I've also caught some through the ice, but nothing consistent. I once caught a 17" Walleye in the Provo Boat Harbor through the ice. All I used was a whole nightcrawler on a jighead. I've tried that several times since then, but never been able to duplicate it. I've also caught probably 5 or 6 others through the ice using a tiny chartreuse grub...but those were also only 7-11" long. I would also like to know what the largest Walleye any of you have pulled through the ice at Utah Lake...thanks guys...

The key would be to find them. Because Utah lake is so shallow it would be a guessing game to where they are. Maybe just target the usual bass and pan fish and find the deepest part of water or a channel close to where you are fishing to set a tip up over. That way you would at least have more of a shot at catching an eye. Use a dead minnow or tip a jig with a big chunk of crawler to deter little biters.
Not exactly expert advise but at least a couple of ideas. Good luck!

I've iced a few. Commonly I use (Blade baits) and so on. The biggest I've ice at UL was a 9lb hen caught on one of TD's creations in 6' of water, it followed a 6lb'er.
Stealth, and a feed source close by, is the secret,, and I dont even start fishing for eye through the ice before 4:30pm. But I do punch my ice holes a couple hours sooner and I stay well away from the holes until I soft step to them at fishing time. I often stay on the cap until well after 10pm. but find I catch most between dark and 8:30pm.
If you use a light source such as a lantern its not a real bad thing but try and position it 20-30 feet away.
