My boy and me fished echo yesterday near the dam in 27 ft of water. Caught 6 rainbows 4 of which were 17-19 inches and 2 8-10 inches. The perch were in thick but most of them were small. We were able to ice 8 that ran 9-10 inches but most were barely able to get the hook in there mouth. My boy also caught 2 19 inch chubs. The bite was pretty constant from 7am till Noon and slowed way down after that. Sorry no pics. I was worried about breaking my new camera dragging my sled through the boulders to get on the ice. All in all it was a great cold day to spend on the ice with my boy. OH yeah ice was a solid 8 inches with some areas at 10 inches.

19" chubs??? Are you sure they werent carp or suckers??? Those would both blow the state record out of the water.

I thought is was quite large for a chub also. I fish for suckers on the jordan river all the time and also for carp at utah lake for catfish bait. I know it was not a carp or a sucker the mouth was up to high on the face. I looked up some pictures on the web and the only other fish I could find that looked similar was a whitefish. Wish I woulda went back for the camera! That brings up my question? Are there whitefish in echo? This is the very first time I have ever fished echo so I don't know much about the place.

I'm sure there are whitefish in there.... that's probably what they were. Excellent fish for the smoker! [cool]

We were there also yesterday, in fact I think you guys walked by us to get to your spot. 3 of us caught 14 trout and 1 whitefish, but it took 6 hours to do it. This is the third time fishing echo for me this year and this was by far the slowest trip. White paddle bugs or cutter bugs worked pretty well. It was 5 below when we got out of our truck at about 7.00 am.

i was up there the 29th and we caught close to 20 rainbows and 1 brown between two of us. Every bite we had was on a radical glow tube. http://www.radicalglow.com/store_tubes.html i wouldn't go anywhere without them. the key for us was finding the fish. we were in 34 feet of water but catching the fish much higher up.
