I watched a drunken hillbilly drive his full size extended cab pickup about 30 yards onto the ice today. As he got closer to where his friends were fishing they screamed louder and louder for him to "GET THE @#%$ AWAY FROM HERE YOU @$$ &^%*!" Pretty comical!
Anyhow, I think it's safe to say that the ice is ok on the south and southwest side of G'ville res.... for fishing. Still looks nasty on the north side though.
I didn't arrive untill after noon but caught 4 in just a couple hours. others seemed to be having about the same sucess for fat planter bows.
I also talked to someone who talked to someone who fished Vernon this past week, said they did pretty good thru 6-8" of ice. But that is how rumors get started.
