My grandson and myself got to Yuba at 10:45 and stopped to talk to the DWR that was watching all the fisherman on the ice at Painted Rock, one group of three was doing the catch and push back down the hole...
The DWR was waiting for them to come in, we let them know about the DWR watching them and they left their after and we could see the DWR stopping them, later the DWR made the rounds looking for licenses and counting fish...
We got our perch on mill worms and the best was perch eyes we got our last perch with the DWR at our holes we got six at 10" five at 11 1/2" and two at close to 5" (bait) and the others at about 9" all was fat and all came from 22' of water we headed home at 2:00 a windy but fun time....
Will send pictures over to TD in the morning...

I looked for ya Cliff. We were on the far side of the island from the ramp.
I would say probably 200 people through the day at painted Rocks. I think everybody caught a limit of Perch.
Except for the W it was a beautiful day. I did not bring the shelter so I was "Back to it" like every one else.
As we were leaving the Park Ranger had shown up and was collecting fees and informing people that tickets would be issued for not paying the park entry fee.

Some people are pretty stupid. Don't they know that the DWR like to sit on hills with spotting scopes and watch for infractions from afar? Makes you wonder what the guys in ice tents were doing though....[

[#0000ff]I'm glad that DWR is monitoring the situation, but sorry for them at the same time. I bet that the officers who had to work on New Years Day were not real happy about having to be there...and that they probably were not in total agreement about the new regulations they have to enforce.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]These folks are hard working people who have to cover large areas with minimal pay and minimal resources. It is too bad they have been dled with even more silly rules to have to enforce.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Hope the grandson had a good time.[/#0000ff]

We talked about how dum some people are and I had a good laugh with my grandson when we watched the DWR go over to talk with the two, what a joke they were...

We joined the perch party at Painted Rocks and limited out like pretty much every one else. We started shallow and caught a few but had to move out to deeper water to really get into them. We had our licenses checked by the DWR but I have no problem with that. I'm glad to see them out and about.

Thats good to hear that some perch are coming up big and fat. Did you dissect them to see what they are eating? I am just curious. Cant wait to hit yuba soon i hope. [

One of the bigger perch had what looked like another perch that was about 2" long in it and some of the others had minnows in them but not sure if they was perch or what....
