Hey there lonehunter,

Thanks for heads up! You're always lookin' out for us board trekers. Interesting thing on the website address. There's a word 'Shuzai' and in Japanese there are many meanings including interview, information gathering, etc. I should imagine the Chinese meaning of the two characters used for this word would be the same with about the same meaning. If and I say if you need some Japanese or Chinese language help sometime feel free to give me a yell as I've got the software and all that.

Again thanks,

JapanRon

Hey there lonehunter,

Get this, There are 8,000 counties in all of China. There are about 8,000 dialects of Chinese. It's too complicated to even outline. Actually, the two main streams of spoken Chinese are Mandrin and Cantonese. The written language is universal throughout China BUT...... gottcha! There is the traditional (old style) and the simplified (communist inspired abbreviated style which I hate, hate, hate) style characters.

In Tiawan there are two dialects of Chinese spoken in the main and they officially use only the traditional style characters. Oh ya, I forgot, some words use different characters because they are politically incorrect to the politcal party.

Japanese has two main dialects: standard dialect (Hyojungo) and the Kansai dialect (Kansai-ben) which is spoken in the Osaka, Kobe areas. Like China, there are hundreds of spoken regional dialects. Lots of mountians with a village on each side of the hill speaking a different dialect. Just about everybody can speak it just the understanding that hard!!!Can't forget the Ainu up in Hokkaido either.

i knew there was several versons of the spoken and written word , but i thought it was only about 2000 . 8000 ! wow ! thats a new fact that will stick in my head for a long time .

i don't know why but some facts just stick in my head , things that you would only see the game show "jerpody" ! i can watch that show and have about 80% of the answers correct and not even know where i learned the answers from . ( newsprint articals , history books , t.v. , ect.)

this "gift " has helped me in my fishing though , i can go fishing to a new spot and just know where to deliver the hook to catch a fish . it could just be the surface contures of the water or the make-up of the landforms of the banks , but all of the information i have gained thru reading has just implanted itself into a spot that automaticly takes over . ( i know i'm going to get a ribbing on this next part [Wink] ) it's kind of having the "rain-man " gift . but for fishing and hunting .

so what would my user name translate into ( japanise ) ? i think that would be interisting to know . thanks lonehunter ( i hope it's not anything close to gui-she , i know thats a bad thing , where i learned it from - who knows , it's just there in the back of my head somewhere).

Hey there lonehunter,

One Japanese word for Hunter is Ryoshi, it also can mean Hunter/Fisher/Mountain Man. Lone can be translated as a description as hitori, ippiki or even O. I'd say you could call yourself 'ippiki ryoshi'. Some would laugh because ippiki is also a counter for some type of animals. Example: Lone Wolf would be 'ippiki Okami'. wolf is kami but a big ol' scary alpha wolf would would use the 'O' thus kami becomes Okami.

There are lots of varations you could use and every Japanese you ask would have a different idea. I swear. ha ha

My road name in a running club was sukebe ryoshi which means nasty ol' fisherman.
