[#808000]I went to fill out my NR draw application for Utah today and I was told I needed to purchase either a Hunting License or a Combination License. I tried to find out some info in your Big Game Procs, but I am having a hard time finding NR info in the procs.[/#808000]

Braz,

If you dont plan on fishing or hunting any kind of small game, then I wouldnt buy the combo. But if you want to come down our way and hook up on some fishing with any of us and such, Then buy the combo.

I will pm you on applying up your way for deer soon.

With all the great hunting in your state why would you even consider hunting in Utah? [crazy]

[#808000]You guys have a couple of deer areas that I wouldn't mind hunting. [/#808000]

[#808000]I have been applying for a couple of years and really doubt that I will draw but you never know unless you apply. I also apply for Colorado every year, but even if I drew in another state I would always take the time to go hunting in Wyoming.[/#808000]

That's true, my dad is from Wis. and the first year he put in for the LE Wasatch elk hunt he drew, the year was 2001 and that's where we were at when 911 occured. He ended up taking a nice 6X6 that was a 330 class. Great hunt and a nice bull for a 75 year old. We luv Wy. and hope to retire there soon. The wife and I have just applied for our elk hunts. This is our third year since the point system started there. We have both drawn LE elk tags for UT. and I drew my moose tag last year. I'm hoping some of that luck will rub off on our WY. applications. Good luck on your deer applications for UT. hopefully you will be getting some good news come the end of April.[cool]

Hey Braz, I don't think you can purchase a Hunter Safety certificate, I think that is the number you got when you took the class. You don't need it if you were born before a certain date. Unless a hunter safety validation is different[crazy].

Braz,
Give our office in Ogden a call. 801-476-2740 and they will answer all your questions (correctly, rather than relying on the BFT board). This year they are making all people who appy for the deer, elk, pronghorn, and one-in-a-lifetime to FIRST purchase a hunting license or combo. Utah had so many people just paying their $10 application fee and then only buying the license if they drew out. Making them buy the license first brings in a lot more $$$ to the UDWR, and that is the way many of the surrounding western states have been doing with their draws. Anyway, the difference in cost between a hunting license and a combo license for NONRESIDENTS is only $15. The hunting license cost $65 and a combo license costs $80. So, if you're considering fishing at all in Utah this coming year, for the extra $15, its a good deal to NONRESIDENTS to pick up the combo. Good luck in the draws.

[#808000]Thanks Scott, I think I have it figured out now. One thing about differnt states is when I get used to Wyoming's way of things it makes Utah's seem like Chinese, especially when I only pay attention to a couple of times a year.[/#808000]
