Fished causey on 1-14 with the 3 boys and had a blast. Got on the ice about 2:30ish, and had our first fish right away. There was not much size to them, but the fun came when the deer and the moose decided to turn the lake into there personal highway. That was more intertaining for us than the little fish always bothering us with them bitting our hooks. It didn't seem to matter what we were using as long as there was one or two red salmon eggs on the hook.

Thanks for posting your report. It's always great to have the deer and moose to watch while fishing, makes it even more enjoyable. Was there lots of slush or snow on the lake? How was the walk down to the ice? WH2

We parked by the spilway and there was a prety well worn path down to the ice. There was about 4 to 12 inches on snow depending on the drifts and you would occasionaly break through 2-4 inches of slush, but there was a good 10 inches of solid ice under that.

Thanks for the info, with the cold weather they are predicating, I'm sure the slush layer will freeze solid by the weekend, at least I hope so. WH2

Just wondering if a 4 wheeler can be used at Causey. Planning on a weekend trip and dont want to haul it if we can't use it.

Unless you got yourself a mean hill climber that bites don't even try it. You could get down to the water no problem but getting back up is a different story. Plus the edges are notorious up there. My .02[Wink]
