I am taking a friend from Wyoming ice fishing for his first time at the berry and want to give him a good experience. I took some scouts to CCE last saturday and the crowds shut doown the fishing.

I am wondering if any of you either know of a good spot that we could walk to within 30 min. to excape the crowds (hopefully the slush monster is frozen) or if any of you would like to give 3 or 4 of us a snowmobile ride out where you are fishing for some cash and use of my 10" power auger?

I was thinking about either hiking to the east shore of CCE which should take 30 min or so and would be far enough away from the crowds, or fishing the ladders by the island or as far east as we can hike for 30 min.

Let me know what you think!

How many of you will be there this weekend?

You sound like my wife yet I seem to come home after every trip; so far at least.

Will likely be walking far no matter where we decide.

Where is there parking for CCE?
Can you park on the East side by the water, or do you have to park by the outhouse and walk out to the ice?
I have had good fishing on the East side, when I can park over there. I walk out to the South away from the crowds.
How was the snow and walking conditions there?
Thanks for your help,
DKS.

YOu have to park by the out house at CCE and then walk to the east. The slush sucked last saturday but should be better this weekend - hopefully. I plan on walking as far as I can pull my sled as all the usual spots are outfished right now.

If I had snowmobiles or a 4 wheeler I would go over to Soldier Creek Bay. It is very rarely fished with lunkers in there. The bottom of that little finger right there is just loaded with crawdad. That is where we crawdad fish in the summer. It get's very little pressure.

Are you talking about the soldier creek marina bay? I walked out there 2 years ago to ice fish - took almost 45 min but the fishing was great!! I have been thinking about doing that.

I am not sure it's the SC Marina Bay actually. I beleive you have to go past that turnoff and go to the very last SC turnoff before going onto Fruitland. There is a road that takes you down to a turn out that has restroom facilities. It is a small finger off that side of Soldier Creek only about a mile wide, almost one small lake in an of itself. You have to snowmobile, 4 wheel or snowshoe in right now, because there is so much snow. I am going to do it sometime when I have access down there. That is where I am talking about. Hope it makes sense.

we stopped by the soldier creek turn off the first week of January and the snow was to deep for the 4 wheeler there were soft spots where the snowmobiles hadnt packed it down enough
i was thinking of going there for the 7th annual boeing ice derby but dont think the wheeler will make it unless its improved sence then
