Hey Guys i could use some help. I fish all year round for trout but have never went up and chased the Lakers on the ice. I Have a Eskimo quickfish 6, 10 inch power auger, fish finder, sled, wheeler, I just need some direction on where to go and what to use.
Me and my wife would be happy to land some 5-10 pounders let alone a big one. Any help would be great. Thanks Guys!!!

Not trying to be a downer for ya.. but .... the gorge does have some big macs in there.. can you just go out and drop your line in and expect to just catch a 5-10 lb fish.. NO WAY... you got to put time in.. learn it.. do it exactly right.. have some luck and maybe just maybe you can get a 5-10 lb fish or bigger.. 2-5 lb different story!!!.. Anyway, there are a million posts on how to catch the mac @ the gorge.. tube jigs.. are prob the most popular.. many people tip them with sucker meat etc... jig on the bottom... for big fish many people like to go out where it is much deeper..... if you want to go up to the conflu area, and fish a bit more shallow using tube jigs etc.. you can catch a lot of 2-4 lb fish, with a maybe a bit bigger fish.. (keep in mind there are those FEW lucky guys who do walk out drop a line in and wam a big ole mac.. but for the most part you got to work at it) learn it.. do it right..

I appreciate the responce. I understand that it takes time, stragety, patience and a whole lot of luck. I am willing put in my time. All day, weekends, whatever it takes. Just looking for some help cause I know there is going to be numerous hours spent just to ketch one of these bad boys and I would like to know that I am at least presenting them with something they like and am located where people have been having success.[

get a map and look for deep water humps, better yet, get the map with GPS and find the ones that are in the frozen areas. we did that last year and caught 3 just over 20lbs. later chuck
