Has anyone caught decent size perch this year? I have been to Mantua, Newton, Hyrum and even Pineview and have been dissappointed with the size of perch. I have read in the forum that Yuba has been decent. Looking to fill the freezer. Is this just a cycle or maybe I just suck at fishing? Last year we pulled some hogs out of Pineview and nothing this year to amount to anything. Looking for hope.

Yuba is defenitely not the place to fill the freezer. 10 fish limit.
There are some nice perch in the Nelle, and in Pineview as well. In my experience Perch tend to travel in size classes. If I catch a small one, chances are I'll catch another small one.
Last year TubeDude and I had to move around to 3 or 4 different spots at Pineview before we found the quality fish we were looking for.

There have been some nice perch caught at Rockport this year. There are a bunch in the 8-12 inch range. The problem is locating them. If you move alot you will soon find them. Start in 20 feet of water then move deeper till you find them.
Good Luck

You should give Echo a try.

Last year we fished the Narrows and slayed them about this same time last year. Why wouldn't they be in there this year? Where in Pineview, no GPS coordinates needed, is good for perch?

[cool]The Narrows is quite a bit lower than last year and for whatever reason, the perch aren't hanging out in that area of the lake much as a whole anyway...

[cool]Are you saying that you've been to Echo this year and it's treated you well? If so, how was it, how many caught and the size of them, etc. would be good. Also, what depth did you find them at? Thanks.

Went to the "Port" last weekend and got 21 perch. Most were 8 inches but I landed 5 over 10 inches.

I fished Echo by the boat ramp in 20- 30 ft of water. Between my friend and I we iced close to 30 perch and 2 18" bows. The perch ranged in size from 3" to 12" The ice was a bit soft near the edges so be carefull.

I drove by Echo last weekend after fishing Rockport. I noticed snowmobile tracks on the lake and it seemed like they got there via the resort area. It looks like they unload at the parking area just outside the resort, follow the old rail bed south, and drop down to the lake south of the resort. Is that correct?
I couldn't really see the actual route, so I'm wondering if an ATV could also gain access to the lake using the same route. Or is it too steep and/or the snow too deep for an ATV? I would appreciate any information you can offer.

The perch are defenitely in the Narrows....
Like has been said LC, you need to move around a lot. The narrows gets pounded with fisherman non-stop from the 1st day the ice is safe. Move until you find a good school. As soon as you do, you should be able to fish it for awhile. When that area slows down again, move some more.

Went to Rockport two weeks ago. Fishing was very good. Fished from 1:30 to 5:00. Got 36 perch and a couple of trout. About half were between 10 to 11.5 inches. Last Saturday was different. Five of us fished all day, 20 perch and one trout. Fished in 31 ft of water just north of the third out house. Seen lots of perch on the underwater camera. The schools came one after the other. The perch just were not biting.
