A few years ago, the DC State Park entrance had a sign up that said it was mandatory to keep and report any lakers caught. I wasn't aware there were any in there, but the park ranger told me that some had been planted there many years ago. The sign wasn't up for long so I can't imagine that it was that much of a concern. I have never heard of nor seen one pulled out of DC.

Has anyone else ever heard of this?

[cool][#0000ff]The sign was probably put up by a player from the Jazz. They always have trouble with the lakers.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Seriously, lakers (macks) have been planted experimentally in many Utah waters. However, unless conditions of food, depth, temperature, etc. are all to their liking, they are generally never heard from again...after planting.[/#0000ff]

I've got an old 80's book by Hartt Wixom called "Fishing and Hunting Guide to Utah" that talks about catching a few lakers in the fall in the Wallsburg area. Like TubeDude said, it was probably shortly after the experimental Stalkings. Or we have some guys emptying their livewells from the Gorge!

What always gets me when I think about these types of stories, is the possibility that there is one or two big old lakers still swimming in Deer Creek, just eating perch and being happy.
