Thanks to those who put on the derby. It was great! Some of the things I really liked are the big fish every 30 minutes rather than every hour. The fact that they come to you when you have a measureable fish rather than us to them. No atv's on ice during the derby, and the family friendly environment. I look forward to fishing it next year.

I was at the ice tournament at Devils Creek. My son and I had a good time and I thought it was well run. I must have chosen a little fish hole because my biggest fish was a 14 1/2 in Kokanee.

It was interesting to see so many people have similar results as far as the fish being on or off during different times of the day.

Here are my results.

8:00-9:00 five rainbows four of them 10-12" one right at 14"
9:00-10:00 two 10-12" rainbows
11:30 one 14 1/2" Kokanee
1:00 my son caught a 12" rainbow
2:00 my son caught another 12" rainbow

All of my fish were caught on white paddle bugs although I tried everything in my box.

I did wonder with so much money involved (almost 3,000 to the winner and over 2,000 for second place) what is to stop people from using more than one pole in their ice house? Or for that matter what is to stop someone from catching a big rainbow at another lake and then pulling it out for the devils creek tourney? I am not implying that anyone cheated. I certainly do not believe that to be the case. I just started to think about the potential problems that would come up when operating a tournament that draws that many people and money.

I believe the biggest fish for the day was 19 3/4". Congratulations to the winners. It was good to meet you Wingnut. How did you do?
There was a very good family friendly environment there. Thanks to those who worked to make it that way.

It was quite the event, with over 200 anglers on the ice and almost three grand for first place, I may feel the need to fish it next year!
I gave out a lot of free samples at the event and met a lot of great people. We are looking forward to being there next year as well.
First place went to Jesse Brown, He caught the winning fish on a pink Holographic 1-1/2" Cut'r Bug.
Congratulations to all the winners!

Thanks for the samples I will give them a try. They seem very similar to the paddle bugs that I really like.

Thanks to all who fished at this years tournament. It was a huge success with many nice fish being caught. 19 3/4" won and 19 1/4" took second. Both fish were caught in the last hour of the tournament. Fishing was much slower than last years tournament, however the size of the fish were much larger. Of the 14 $100 winners, the two shortest fish were 17". Last year 16 1/2" was good enough to split 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. As far as your concerns with cheating, We have tried to think of all the possible ways that people could cheat and make a rules to help prevent this. As you know, there are people, who may think about cheating when there is this much prize money. Hopefully that doesn't happen. We do depend on the eyes of all the people around to help keep people honest. As far as bringing in a fish from somewhere else, I think it would be very difficult to keep a trout alive long to transport it back to the tournament to be measured. You are right. It is hard to know whats happening inside someones tent and how many poles they might be using. The only way to solve that 100% is to allow everyone to use five poles. I just think that would turn into a mess. I we over 1000 poles in the water, imagine the tangled lines when a school of fish swims through one of the congested areas. Again, THANKS to all who fished, I hope you enjoyed it and we look foreword to seeing you all next year. I will try to have our web site updated tommorow with results and photos. As soon as do I will post a link.

I to was there and met the maniac guy I did not know he was a BFT or I would have said something sorry. We fished it near the spillway in about 32 feet water on had bites. I got out of my tent went over by the restrooms about 6 feet from shore and 7 feet of water and dropped my white padddle bug and bang it was on as quick as he hit my lure it broke off, man I was mad lol. I reset my rig with another paddle bug droped it down and bang hooked up brought him to the deck and measured him at 15.5 inches not a trophy but it was a cold windy fun day. I am dialed in for the evanston derby now look out Big Al.

PS I will be using that white sparly jig you gave us in wyoming maniac...
