So I have all Friday and Saturday off to get back to ice fishing. My wife wants to eat some perch so it looks like we will be going to Yuba on Saturday in search of those perchies and the stray pike.

But Friday looks like one of those wonderful days where I can focus on fishing for what i want to fish for. I have been wanting to get back up to birch creek and was just wondering how that lake ice fishes and the current conditions. How thick is the ice? How is the road to the lake? etc. etc.

I don't need specific reports but just want to know if it would be worth the 2.5 hr drive.

If not birch creek, then I might go looking for browns at the nelle or whities at UL. Maybe another berry trip too, but man I love catching tigers.

4+' of ice, and 7' of snow! You definately have to have a sled to even get there and an auger extention.[Wink]

I live a few miles from Birch Creek. The roads do not get plowed and we have been pounded with snow. Its quite a walk to get in (even from where the road ends). Fishing is usually hit and miss (like anywhere else). I am not trying to discourage you from going, just giving you an update. Good Luck!

Well then I guess I probably won't be heading there until ice off (do you know when that is??) I'm guessing end of April.

So it looks like I'll have to find someplace else. Maybe Strawberry again.

Thanks (and still waiting for you to catch that 8th fish).[Tongue]
