I am new to the board but hopefully you'll all give me a little info and trust that I'll hit you back in the future.

I am headed to Fish Lake this weekend and haven't been down in a few years. I used to always fish at Macinaw Bay and was basically just wondering if people are still having success out that way. I am taking some kids for their first trip so I'm looking for fast action on the splake and the perch. The lakers will wait for me, fingers crossed.

Also, with the warming trend through the end of this week and into next do I need to worry about open water around the lake as the water level rises with the melting snow? I don't really have too much desire to make the trip if we can't even get on the ice.

Thanks in advance for all your help.
welcome to the board, first of all.
i was down to fish lake 2 weeks ago. ice was 10 to 12 inches thick. lots of snow around the lake with about 4 to 6 on the ice. we fished at macinaw on the second day and did really well on the splake and perch between 20 to 30 feet of water. using perch meat and wax worms. they only plowed the road going towards joe bush as far as the north boat ramp. good luck to ya.

Are you talking about inches or feet? I have been up there when the snow has been deep on the ice. I am contemplating taking a trip up there saturday. But i dont want to dig to get to the ice.
