Well I haven't posted a fishing report in some time now. So I thought I would let you all know how slow of a day I had up at D.C.

I had big hopes of pulling in constant fish all day. I had fished D.C. a few weeks ago and did well for as little time I spent there. Tlspyder13 and myself tried a new area that we have never fished before. I use to fish this bay for smallies along the shore before they made it into Rainbow Bay park. But have not been there in years. Anyway we started in 10' of water. I landed one and had another one get off at the hole. Then Richard came over and we didn't ice anything. So we moved out to 18' of water. There was a little more action out there, but not much. I ended up with 4 bows, 1 brown, and a porky perch. I think Richard had 4 bows.

We tried 43' of water for awhile. But did not mark a single fish, let alone get a nibble. Our custom paint jobs tipped with wax or meal worms is what we used.

Nice report, how big was the Brown ?

Not very big, maybe 14-15 inches is all.

O4F: Thanks for reporting even if it was below average. We learn from the whole range of experiences not just those super duper trips.

Hey, you gotta love hitting a Brown through the ice at DC even if it wasn't fast action. I think i'll wait till ice out before I start venturing too far from Utah Lake. The plan this year is to target wallye and lock onto a pattern that works for the one fish that has eluded me at DC. With all of the jigs, spinners, and crankbaits I have thrown in the ater up there it is perlexing that I have never hit a walleye there. I have caught a thousand smallies, a few largemouth, overly cooperative microperch, and even an ambitious bluegill on a rooster tail. Maybe I should go after dark and hit the flats with a Rapala this year. Any tips from walleye diehards are more than welcome.

I have caught a few Walleye up there from shore in the summer just bouncing a 3" olive brown tube jig along the bottom! They have all been small in the 12-14 inch range though!
